At WGSB, we want to help you keep your debit cards both convenient and secure from fraud. That’s why we continue to enhance the features and optional services offered with our Visa® Check and Visa® Business Check cards.

Read on to learn more about these services and about how each can benefit you.

Visa Account Updater

Included with All WGSB Debit Cards, Starting 10/1

For customers who use their debit cards to make automatic (recurring) payments with a merchant/biller, updating your card information just got easier.

Visa has announced an enhancement to its service that will help you keep your card information up-to-date. When your card’s expiration date is updated, Visa will automatically provide this information to participating billers and merchants on your behalf. This service is available for Visa Check and Visa Business Check cards.

Please note that this automatic update will happen only when a card naturally expires, and not when a card is replaced due to loss or compromise. Please also note that not all merchants participate in automatic updates, so you should still contact the merchant when your card information changes.

If you would like to opt out of this service and continue updating this information on your own, contact us through this website or call us at 1-800-564-2735.

CardValet

Included with WGSB’s Mobile Banking App

CardValet lets you control when, where, and how your Visa debit card is used and it’s available automatically within WGSB’s mobile app.

Protect yourself from fraud by turning your card on when you want to use it and turning it off when you’re done! Lose your card? Turn your card off within seconds from your mobile device, and simply turn it back on when you find it (under your car seat). Not leaving town for a while? Restrict the location of places your card can be used.

With CardValet, you can*:

  • Block Cards – lose your card or not using your card? Immediately disable, then re-enable your card with a single tap.
  • Limit Transaction Amounts – set a maximum transaction amount on a card. Any transaction attempted over that limit will be declined.
  • Limit Transaction Locations – control where a card is used for in-person purchases by choosing to block international transactions or specifying a location radius where transactions are allowed.
  • Limit Merchant Transactions – block certain types of merchants, where you don’t use your card often.
  • Receive Text Alerts – receive real-time alerts for declined debit card transactions due to set card controls. Enable or disable alerts through GOLD via the Profile button.

Don’t have the mobile app yet? Learn how to get it today!

*Important: These controls are in addition to controls set by the bank, and do not override the bank's controls. For example, choosing to not block international transactions does not change the country blocking rules set by the bank, and maximum daily card limits can only be changed by the bank. For help with either of these features, call 800-564-2735 during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm).

Fraud Center & Monitoring

Provided to All WGSB Cardholders

To protect your accounts, Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank provides real-time monitoring of all ATM and debit card transactions for potentially fraudulent activity. Transactions that will be considered suspicious include a sudden series of big ticket purchases, unexpected overseas purchases with your U.S. issued card, or any pattern of transactions associated with current fraud trends.

If we suspect fraudulent ATM or debit card use, our Fraud Center will call you to verify the legitimacy of the transaction(s). The automated call will ask you to verify your identity by entering your area code and will then ask you to verify recent transaction activity on your card. You will not be asked to provide your card number, PIN number, account number, or other personal information. During the call, you will be provided with a toll-free number to call should you have questions.

Your participation in responding to our call is critical to prevent potential risk and avoid restrictions we may place on the use of your card. To ensure we can reach you whenever potential fraud is detected, please keep us informed of your correct phone number and address at all times. Please also call or contact us before you travel to let us know of possible locations for card transactions.
