Important Messages from WGSB

Bank Lobbies to Close or Reduce Hours Effective Nov. 27

11/20/20

To slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community, Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank will return to drive-up only service at most of its offices, effective November 27.

All WGSB offices will continue to provide normal drive-up and ATM services, as available.  Beginning Friday, November 27, all bank lobbies will be temporarily closed, with the exception of the Lisbon and Lancaster offices, which will remain open on reduced schedules and for teller service only. The Woodsville/Walmart office will be closed, however its ATM and night drop will continue to be monitored.

If you need to conduct business that cannot be done at the drive-up, or if you simply need more personal assistance with an account or loan request, please call your local office to make an appointment.  If you need to access a safe deposit box, please call your office directly to arrange a visit.  While many of our employees continue to work remotely, all of our employees are working and they’re ready to serve you.

Lisbon & Lancaster Office Hours

So that we can continue to serve customers of offices that do not have a drive-up, the Lisbon and Lancaster offices will remain open for teller service only and on a reduced schedule.  For other services, including loans and safe deposit access, please call for an appointment.

Effective November 27, reduced hours will be as follows:

Lisbon:

  • Monday-Wednesday: 12:00pm-4:00pm

Cottage Street Lobby Closed as a Precaution

11/10/20

On November 9, 2020, we learned that a staff member at our Cottage Street office in Littleton, NH tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank takes the safety and welfare of its customers and employees seriously.  As a precaution, we have closed our Cottage Street lobby until further notice, however, our ATM and drive-up will be open.

Fortunately, this employee’s role is such that he or she has limited extended contact with Bank customers and other employees.  The bank has taken steps to identify and reach out to the few customers that may have been exposed in advance of the steps that are routinely taken by the State’s healthcare bodies.

Early in the pandemic, we had many employees effectively working from home.  Currently at our Cottage Street office, we have transitioned those employees back to their homes until the appropriate quarantine period has been recognized.  Cottage Street drive-up and ATM services will remain open until further notice.

Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank has had protocols in place since required by the State of New Hampshire as well as CDC guidance.  They include the following:

  • All staff members have their temperature taken and are prescreened for symptoms daily before work
  • All employees are required to wear cloth face coverings at all times
  • All employees are asked to maintain 6-foot social distancing from others
  • All common areas such as teller counters, check desks, ATM’s are disinfected and cleaned routinely throughout every day
  • Hand sanitizers stations are available in all public and non-public areas for regular use
  • Face coverings are available for customer use

Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank will continue to work to protect the health and safety of our customers and our employees.

Our lobbies are open!

6/1/20

We are excited to announce that all WGSB lobbies re-opened on Monday, June 1, and all offices resumed regular hours. For your safety and the safety of our employees, we are following Governor Chris Sununu’s guidelines for social distancing and other practices that support a healthy work and business environment.

Floor decals are placed at entrances, in lobbies, and in other common areas to serve as a reminder to all to keep six feet apart and to support proper social distancing while waiting for service. Plexiglas safety barriers are installed at our teller areas, as well as at loan and customer service desks. Lobby areas and meeting rooms are rearranged to allow everyone six feet separation from others. Common surface areas will be disinfected several times a day.  Deposit tickets, withdrawal slips, and pens have been removed from the lobby area. If you need a document or a pen, ask a teller.

All WGSB employees wear face masks, and customers entering our buildings are encouraged to do the same. If you don’t have a mask and would like one, let us know. We’ll be happy to give you one for your personal use. Please be prepared to remove your mask briefly, so we can verify your identity.

All WGSB employees have been asked to stay home if they are exhibiting any signs of illness, and will be sent home if those symptoms appear during the workday.  We ask that customers who are not feeling well also stay home.

We look forward to welcoming you back to our lobbies.  If you are uncomfortable entering the lobby, please continue to use our drive-thru, online, mobile, or telephone services. As always, we are here to serve you in whatever way is most convenient for you.

If you would like to speak with a lender, please call ahead to make an appointment or get things started by phone. Many of our lenders will continue to work from home as much as possible, but are prepared to help you in any way.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we do our part to keep everyone healthy.

COVID-19 Related Scams Target Consumers and Businesses

4/8/20

Whether through natural disaster or pandemic virus, when times are tough, scammers pull out all their tricks to take advantage of individuals and businesses alike.

As you may know, fraudsters are using fear over the COVID-19 virus to try to trick consumers into sharing personal, account, and card information.  They’re doing this by phone, email, text, and malicious websites offering everything from charitable giving opportunities to quick virus tests and the like.  Some messages also threaten that Social Security payments will be suspended if action isn’t taken “immediately” to resolve the issue.

Now, the SBA and FDIC report that fraudsters are also taking advantage of the CARES Act stimulus package to prey on business owners.  They say that crooks are targeting businesses with phishing emails that offer invitations to apply for SBA loans, to expedite relief payments, or to simply “follow-up” on an existing loan application (similar to the “Your shipment details are ready” texts and emails we’ve all received and that pretend to be from Amazon or UPS).  Unfortunately, their offers are made with malicious intent and have already tricked businesses into sharing sensitive information and account access.

At this time, we urge you to remain vigilant for scams concerning COVID-19, CARES Act stimulus loans, or any “opportunity” related to these uncertain times.  Remember that Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank, the Social Security Administration, U.S. Small Business Administration, FDIC, and other legitimate organizations will never call, email, or text you to ask for personal information unless the contact is initiated by you.

If you believe you may have fallen victim to one of these scams, please contact the bank immediately.

Following are some good articles with details about all the scams discussed above.

In This Together

3/17/20

While the potential local health impact of the COVID-19 virus is unknown, one thing is clear: we need to work together – and stick together – to get through this difficult time.  School and business closings, event postponements, and creative, alternate solutions to “business as usual” at senior centers, restaurants, and more, show that our North Country, regional, and national communities are ready to do what is needed to “flatten the curve” and put COVID-19 behind us.  It also shows that we’re willing to do some hard things to do good for each other. Here at Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank, we are ready and willing too.

With long-standing pandemic plans in place, we are confident in our ability to serve your banking needs, even if we need to get creative from time to time.  If you or your business needs help making it through this difficult time, please call us.  Our lenders, managers, and all of our employees are ready to discuss your needs and come up with a creative solution for you.

Please contact your local branch office or 800-564-2735 if you have any questions or needs with respect to your accounts, loan payments, and more. We are here to help you at WGSB.

We Have a Plan

3/16/20

Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank respects and appreciates the trust its customers put in us, so continuity of the service we provide is a top priority.  While the potential local impact of the COVID-19 virus is unknown, we want to let you know that we are ready and able to protect you and the bank’s employees, while continuing to fully serve your banking needs.

For decades, the bank has had a plan in place to ensure our ability to serve your banking needs, even when faced with a health threat like the one we face today.  Throughout the years, that plan has been tested, updated, practiced, and updated again, and we are confident that it will help us address whatever impact comes our way.  Our incident management team meets regularly to review the most current news and guidance from federal, state, and local authorities, and will make additional updates to our plan as the situation warrants.  Rest assured that, while the future impact of COVID-19 on our communities is unknown, we do not anticipate any instance that would impact our ability to meet your banking needs.

Please contact your local branch office or 800-564-2735 if you have any questions or needs with respect to your accounts or the bank’s services.  We are here to help you at WGSB.
